Type material. Holotype female, 'allotype' male, China, Shanxi Province, Yicheng County (N25.34°, E 100.13°), 17 July 1983, M. S. Zhu leg., examined [ MHBU].

Diagnosis. P. acuminus is close to P. m a c u l a t u s but differs from it by its thinner and pointed membranous conductor of the male palp, its short and longitudinally oriented embolus which is not coiled around the conductor, as well as by the wider anterior epigynal hood.

Chilum triangular, yellow-brown, sclerotised. Eye rows procurved from front. PSP subtriangular, yellow. PLB isolated, triangular, brown and sclerotised. PCT small, yellow-brown, pointed and sclerotised, fused with sternum. ICS blunt, fused with sternum. Entire male abdomen covered by a thin, smooth, semitransparent do scutum. Trochanter notch and rh absent. Leg III and IV mt with ve terminal preening brush. Leg formula 1423 in male and 4123 in female. Male leg cusps ti: I plv 2; II plv 1; mt I plv 5 rlv 1; II plv 4; ta I plv 2 rlv 1.
