Phileurus voirinae is widely, but sparsely, distributed from southern Mexico to Costa Rica (Ratcliffe 2003). The distinctive parameres, with their short, median lobes ( Fig. 4 View Figs ), will distinguish the males. Additional specimens of P. voirinae , currently residing in collections as unidentified material or possibly named as P. valgus , will probably be found from other locations in Mesoamerica.

Adults have been collected at lights at night. They have been found in lowland broadleaf rainforest and montane broadleaf forest at elevations of 100–900 m (Ratcliffe 2003; Ratcliffe and Cave 2006).
