Type locality. Village of Alagoado , Casa Nova, left margin of the São Francisco River, state of Bahia, Brazil .

Distribution. Endemic to Brazil ( Plt. 231A View Plate 231 ). Known only from the type locality in the Caatinga ( Plt. 231A View Plate 231 ) at low elevations of the São Francisco River depression ( Plt. 231B View Plate 231 ). Observed in the field in xeric scrubland on sandy soil ( Rodrigues, 1993).
