Remarks. The single Old World species of Polyamia is only tentatively retained in the genus as all other species are from the New World and based on the revision of Sinada & Blocker (1994) the identity of the genus is uncertain. It is distinguished in North America by the extra forewing cross veins but in the Old World this character is also present in Matsumuratettix and Maiestas . The only other Old World species, P. drepananiforma Zhang & Duan from China, is a synonym of Matsumuratettix hiroglyphicus (Matsumura) (see above).
