Females: L = 1.18-1.38 mm; a = 25-27; b = 5; c = 58-59; c’ = 1.5-2.5; V = 50-52%.

Males: L = 1.32-1.38 mm; a = 25 -27; b = 5.2-5.7; c = 42-57.

Description. Cuticle 2 pm thick on mid-body. Lips amalgamated, lip region scarcely offset. Odontostyle 25-27 pm, almost twice as long as labial width. Odontostyle weakly flanged. Oesophagus expanded at about 60% of its length. Prerectum 1.5-2.5 anal body diameters long. Vulva transverse with sclerotized lips. Spicula 50-52 pm long. Ventromedial supplements 7-9, the posterior one lying within the spicular range. Tail conoid-rounded, with broadly rounded tip.

Main characters. Especially the long odontostyle and the low number of the supple ­ ments characterize this species.

Habitat and distribution. Moss inhabitant, known from Europe (Hungary, Italy).

In Hungary. Once observed in moss, Biikk Mountains. Reference: Andrassy, 1990 a.

Etymology. Dedicated to the renowned Swiss nematologist, Dr. Edmond Altherr (1900-1976).
