Type species: Sireuma nobile , new species.

Diagnosis. A genus of Opisthocheiridae , differing from other genera in the family by the combination of anterior male gonopods with a distinct small anterior synangiocoxite and separate, two-segmented colpocoxites enfolded by biramous, very large telepodites; posterior gonopods two-segmented, without processes; first pair of postgonopodal legs (P10) with a set of three strong setae next to coxal gland openings; vulvae without a postvulvar organ.

Etymology. We dedicate this new genus to Dr. Jean-Paul Mauriès of the Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle, Paris, and grand master of millipedes, especially the Chordeumatida . It is beyond our powers to knight him properly, whereby he would have become Sir Jean-Paul, but we can remix the letters of his surname, whereby he becomes Sir Euma. (Ending with -euma, the name corresponds with numerous other genus names in the order and like them should be regarded as neuter.)
