Meridia palpalis Roewer, 1913 familial assignment restored

Meridia palpalis Roewer, 1913: 385 (female holotype, “ Venezuela, Mérida, SMF-852”, examined); Kury 2003: 380.

Note. The monotypic genus Meridia was originally described in Gonyleptidae View in CoL (inCranainae, later, transferred to Manaosbiidae View in CoL by Kury (1997)). The holotype is the only specimen known and is a female, thus it is impossible to observe the spindled male basitarsus I that distinguishes manaosbiids. However, it possesses a body size much larger than any manaosbiid, the dorsal scutum shape is markedly pyriform, and the armature of dorsal scutum is typical of cranaines. For these reasons, it is transferred back to Cranaidae View in CoL and allocated in the Cranainae subfamily.
