Trapezia septata Dana, 1852 View in CoL ?

( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 E)

Material examined. 1 male (9.5 mm ×8.0 mm), 1 female (9.3 mm ×8.0 mm), 1 juvenile (4.8 mm × 3.5 mm), north of Ahu Tepeu , Easter Island, 108 feet (= 32.9 m) depth, coll. H. Tonnemacher, 26 Aug 1999 ( ZRC 2016.0125 View Materials ) ; 2 males (12.3 mm × 10.9 mm, 17.8 mm × 12.1 mm), 1 ovigerous female (11.8 mm × 9.9 mm), Easter Island, coll. L. H. DiSalvo, 1985 ( LACM MBC 17836) .

Geographical distribution. Indian Ocean east of Sri Lanka and western and central Pacific Ocean (Castro et al. 2004) and now to Easter Island (herein).

Remarks. The color pattern of the Easter Island specimens is close to that of T. septata Dana, 1852 , but there are some differences. The markings on the carapace and chelipeds of the Easter Island specimens are arranged as irregular lines, whereas those of T. septata form small squares ( Castro 2009: fig. 2C). As T. septata , this is the first record of the species from Easter Island and extends the known range eastward from the Marshall Islands and Samoa by nearly 6600 km.
