Siccia maculifascia ( Moore, 1878) View in CoL
( Figs 31, 32 View Figures 25–32 , 52 View Figures 49–52 , 64 View Figures 61–64 )
Aemene maculifascia Moore, 1878 View in CoL , Proceedings of the general meetings for scientific business of the Zoological Society of London, 1878: 33, pl. 3, fig. 3 (Type locality: [NE India, north of West Bengal] “ Darjiling ”).
= Hyposiccia abraxina Rothschild, 1913 View in CoL , Novitates Zoologicae, 20: 202 (Type locality: [NE India, Meghalaya] “ Khasia Hills ”).
= Parasiccia tibetana Fang, 1982 View in CoL , Insects of Xizang, 2: 55, 60, fig. 3 (Type locality: [ China, Xizang] “ Cona , 2500m ”).
Type material examined. Lectotype of Aemene maculifascia (hereby designated) ( Figs 31 View Figures 25–32 , 52 View Figures 49–52 ): male, “Darjiling | 1864” / “coll. Atkinson | Moore” / “ Aemene | maculifascia | (type) Moore” / pink label “Origin.” / “869.” / Coll. | Staudinger” / “Miltochrista | maculifascia Moore | sg. Hmpsn.” / “986.” / “Slide | AV4265 ♂ | A. Volynkin” ( MfN).
Additional material examined. NEPAL: 1 male, Langtang , 1950m, 1.5 km NE Dhunche, 28°06'N 85°18'E, 24.IX.1994, Csorba & Ronkay leg., gen. prep. No.: ZSM GoogleMaps Arct. 2019-095 ♂ (prepared by Volynkin) ( MWM / ZSM) ; INDIA: 1 female, Sikkim, Mt. Kanchenjunga SE, 27°30'N 88°20'E, 2600m, 9–10.VIII.1995, E. Afonin & V GoogleMaps . Sinyaev leg., gen. prep. No.: ZSM Arct. 2019-079 ♀ (prepared by Volynkin) ( MWM / ZSM) .
Remarks. Moore (1878) described Aemene maculifascia from the unspecified number of male specimens collected by W.S. Atkinson preserved in O. Staudinger collection, which is currently housedin MfN. Subsequently, Hampson (1900) mentioned a female collected by W.S. Atkinson and deposited in NHMUK as ‘cotype’ which, being contradicting the sex of the specimen(s) mentioned in the original description by Moore (1878) and the data on the type depository explicitly mentioned by the author as well, cannot be treated as a syntype. In order to stabilise the nomenclature, the male syntype having Moore’s handwritten type label as well as Staudinger’s pink ‘Origin’ type label, and preserved in MfN is hereby designated as the lectotype.
Diagnosis. The forewing length is 12.0– 12.5 mm in males and 14.5 mm in the female examined. The diagnostic comparison with S. megala sp. n. is provided above in the diagnosis of the latter species.
Distribution. Nepal (new record), Northeast India (Sikkim, north of West Bengal, Meghalaya) ( Moore 1878; Rothschild 1913, as abraxina ), China (Xizang) ( Fang 1982 (as tibetana ), 2000).
