( Figs. 2 View FIGURES 1–2 , 12–19 View FIGURES 12–19 )

Diagnosis. A spotty species, vertex with six brown spots which present in central symmetry. Male: ectoproct quadrangular in lateral view, with some small teeth posteriorly. The mediuncus of gonarcus slender, posteriorly with a processus uncinatus. Female: 9 th tergite developed; gonapophyses posteriores located in the proximal subgenitale, and a pair of round projection present near lateral margins in ventral.

Measurements. Forewing length 12.5–14.5 mm, width 5.5–6.0 mm. Hindwing length 21.2–23.9mm, width 7.1–7.6 mm. Body length 7.2–9.0 mm.

Description. Head. Yellow brown. Vertex with six brown spots (two in middle, four in base), which are arranged in central symmetry. Two brown stripes present near basal antenna. Antennal socket amber, scape and pedicel yellow brown with inside brown. Basal frons brown. Clypeus with two symmetrical big circular brown spots. Labrum brown, clypeus and labrum with several long setae; base of 3rd labial palpal segment and 5th maxillary palpal segment brown outside.

Thorax. Pronotum brown with a yellowish brown longitudinal stripe in the middle, anterolateral prominence densely covered with brown long setae. Mesotergum yellowish brown with two dark brown spots in central. Legs yellowish brown, densely with yellow setae.

Wings ( Fig. 2 View FIGURES 1–2 ). Forewing pale brown, densely with small brown spots. Venation slightly colored, with distinct colored spots in margins, R and CuA. A rectanglar brown spot in the proximal fork of CuA. Posterior margin with a triangular, rather indistinct hyaline spot. All gradate series hyaline, only r-m crossvein in outer gradate series brown. 3 sc-r crossveins present, two proximally and one distally; anterior radial trace bearing 4–5 Rs, ORB1 simple or bifurcated, with five secondary traces distally; 1–4 pre-3ir1 crossveins; M with 2–3 branches, deeply forked; CuA with 8 branches, forked at inner gradate series; CuP with two branches, deeply forked. Outer gradate series 14–19 crossveins; middle 9–11; inner 6–8, linked two crossveins below. Cubitus gradate series with 3 crossveins, distally connected to the middle gradate series. Hindwing pale brown, a wide transparent band along the inner gradate series. Rs with 8–10 branches; M with 2 branches, deeply forked; CuA with 8 branches, forked in middle; CuP simple. Outer gradate series 10–14 crossveins, inner 6–8.

Male terminalia ( Fig.12 View FIGURES 12–19 ). Ectoproct quadrangular in lateral view. The inner margin with a depression dorsally; posterior margin with some small teeth; callus cerci large and oval. Mediuncus of gonarcus ( Fig. 13–14 View FIGURES 12–19 ) slender, posteriorly with a processus uncinatus, margins of both side scrolled up, neogonopons developed. Entoprocessus relatively small. Terminal lobe of parabaculum ( Fig. 15–16 View FIGURES 12–19 ) flat and wide as leaf-shaped, posteriorly with a big tooth bending outwards, lateral margins rolled up. Laterobaculum slender, posterior bent laterally and with a few small teeth, proximal laterobaculum developed, extended to the apophyseal shaft. Hypandrium internum ( Fig. 17 View FIGURES 12–19 ) trapezoid, both margins slightly upturned. Female terminalia ( Fig. 18 View FIGURES 12–19 ). Ectoproct approximate trapezoidal. Subgenitale ( Fig. 19 View FIGURES 12–19 ) flat resembling a plate, posteriorly concaved in ventral view; gonapophyses posteriores located in the proximal subgenitale, and a pair of round projection in ventral part.

Distribution. China (Gansu, Chongqing)

Material examined. Holotype, Male, CHINA: Gansu province, Tewo county, Lazikou forest , 12.viii.1980, ChikunYang ( CAU) . Paratypes, 3 males and 4 females, same as holotype.

Additional material. CHINA: Chongqing, Nanping county, Jiuzhaigou, 4.viii.1980, Fasheng Li , 1 male ( CAU) .

Etymology. From Latin, maculae = spotty, referring to many spots on the vertex

Remarks. This new species is similar to N. nyingchianum ( Yang, 1981) in the forewing, but obviously different in the terminalia. In the male, the entoprocessus is relatively small in this new species, but quite developed in N. nyingchianum . The laterobaculum of parabaculum in N. nyingchianum is short and round in lateral view, while in the new species the laterobaculum is slender and incurved. In the female of this new species, the lateroprocessus is absent, while in N. nyingchianum the lateroprocessus is broad, stretching out from the middle of subgenitale.
