Description. Adult. Coloration. No material available.
Structure. Anterior portion of vertex covered in very conspicuous setae which are longer than distance between them; genal processes broadly rounded, very short. Forewings (®gure 5A) oval, evenly, broadly rounded apically; surface spinules present at wing base and along outer wing margin covering small areas. Genitalia as in ®gure 5B±F. Male subgenital plate short; proctiger thick, produced posteriorly; paramere long with two large apical teeth on the inner face; distal portion of aedeagus long with apical dilatation about half as long as segment. Dorsal margin of female proctiger roundly excavate, process relatively short; subgenital plate subacute apically.
Measurements in mm (1, l 1 m). HW 0.61±0.65; AL 0.66±0.85; WL 1.94±1.97; MP 0.22; PL 0.17; AA 0.18; FP 0.38; VL/GL 2.50±3.25; AL/F1 2.06±2.74; AL/HW 1.08±1.31; WL/HW 3.03±3.18; WL/WW 2.14±2.16; a/b 0.74 ±1.33; c/d 0.71±1.03; TLW 0.89±0.92; MP/HW 0.34; AB/AA 1.06; FP/HW 0.62; FP/SL 1.41; FP/CL 3.17; FP/FA 2.71.
Fifth instar larva. Anterior margin of head weakly concavely rounded, not cleft in the middle. Antennae straight, without sectasetae. Legs with claws. Anterior margin of humeral lobes level with posterior eye margin. Abdominal dorsum without median row of horns. Caudal plate not visible, circumanal ring probably oval. Head, wing bud and abdominal margins without specialized setae; entire body covered in long setae.
Host plant, gall and biology. Schinus fasciculatus . Inducing large hemispherical galls on the lower leaf face which are situated near the mid-vein ( Scott, 1882; Jhering, 1885; Houard, 1933). The larvae at hand were all parasitized by Hymenoptera ; a high degree of parasitization was also observed by Jhering (1885).
D istribution . Argentina (Buenos Aires) ( Scott, 1882; Hieronymus, 1884; BreÁthes, 1920; Wille, 1926; Lizer, 1943; Lizer and Molle, 1945; Burckhardt, 1988), Brazil (Rio Grande; Porto Alegre, Pedras blancas, right bank of Guahyba river) ( Jhering, 1885; Costa Lima, 1942; Burckhardt, 1988), Uruguay (Burckhardt, 1988). The species was reported as unidenti®ed psyllid gall from Argentina (Buenos Aires, Isla Santiago) ( Manganaro, 1914). The record from Chile: Banda Oriente [sic] by Burckhardt (1988) is erroneous and probably concerns Banda Oriental in Uruguay.
Material examined. Uruguay: 1, l 1 m, parasitized larval skins and galls on Schinus fasciculatus without further data ( MHNG, NHMW).
Comment. All larval material at hand is parasitized, and some of the characters are not observable (caudal plate, circumanal ring).
