Type species. Paracobanocythere hawaiiensis Gottwald, 1983 .

Diagnosis. Carapace elongated. Carapace surface smooth. Marginal infold broad in anterior region but narrow in posterior. Hingement of adont type. Four adductor muscle scars in oblique row. Seta-like exopodite of mandibula. Male copulatory organ with very long copulatory duct and remarkable asymmetry in right and left hemipenes: right one consisting of round-tipped distal lobe; left one consisting of extended distal lobe and tip of capsule.
