Arrhopalites yosii sp. n. ( Fig. 9 View FIGURE 9 , ak).

Etymology. The species is named in honor of Dr. Yosii.

Type Material. Holotype ♀, JAPAN, Kyoto. Mt. Daimonji. x1966. R. Yosii, Muséum dhistoire naturelle, Ville de Genève.

Description. Pygmaeusgroup s. str. ( Fig. 9 View FIGURE 9 , AK). Body sparsely clothed with thick setae on anterior part of abdomen (Fig. D, a). Posterior part of the abdomen with setae 1.75X as long as anterior setae (Fig. D, b). Antennae of holotype ~ 2X as long as the cephalic diagonal. Ant. IV 2.4X as long as Ant. III, with seven subsegments (Fig. A); longest setae = the width of segment; Ant. IV apex with a capitate sense rod (Fig. B). Ant. III without basal swelling; sense organ (Fig. C) with 2 parallel sense rods in a single shallow pit; seta Aai clubshaped and blunt; seta Api normal elongate setae, Ape short and bristle like; Ae, Ap and Ai normal. 1+1 eyes. Setae A3, M4, M5 and L and IL series spinelike (Fig. J), a supplementary seta is present in each side of head behind the IL series. Metatrochanteral organ (seta D2) elongate (Fig. G). First unguis without inner tooth, all ungues without tunica (figs. K, ac), but with corner tooth, first and second unguiculi with long apical filament, exceeding the unguis tip, third unguiculus with a short apical filament (Fig. K, c). Corpus tenaculum with two setae (Fig. H). Dens with 7 dorsal E setae, E1 strongly spinelike, E24 moderately spinelike; L1, L2 and L3 spinelike, L4 absent; D1, D2, Id1, Id2, Id3 and Id4 present (Fig. E); 4 ventral rows of setae (3,2,1,1) (Fig. E). Mucro narrow, gutterlike, both edges serrate (Fig. F). No cuticular spines on anal valve; C2 ciliated at the tip, chaetotaxy (Fig. I). Female subanal appendage palmate. Total length of the adult female holotype 0.9mm.

Distribution. Biogeographic zone 3a.

Remarks: A. yosii is a pygmaeusgroup s. str. ( Bretfeld, 1999) similar to A. japonicus and A. octacanthus . It differs from the first by the fourth antennal segment having seven subsegments, the lack of L4 on dens and tunica in the first unguis, the presence of apical filament of all unguiculi, thick setae on the anterior part of abdomen, E10 on anal valve and female subanal appendage shape. It differs from A. octacanthus in basis of the presence of E7 and Id3 setae on dens, corner tooth in all unguiculi and supplementary IL setae at the posterior part of head, the lack of basal swelling on ant. iii and subanal appendage shape.
