Remarks

The unspecialized second gnathopods and short telsonic setae could also fit the females of C. paucidentatus (a species from California), but Ep2 should be smooth there. Also C. breweri is strikingly similar, especially based on the incomplete original description of a single female of 8 mm. In the description by Krapp-Schickel (2008a) of C. breweri from Florida the telsonic robust setae are different being clearly inserted on the inner side of the telsonic lobes and in a well-defined excavation, while both C. shoemakeri and the here discussed material have a much longer robust seta inserted on the outer margin of the telsonic lobes.

In C. shoemakeri the adult males have serrations also on Ep1, but these could develop with age; also the relative length of telsonic setation is reported as different with age (in younger specimens the robust setae are relatively longer). For the moment it seems quite probable that the above cited material belongs to this species.
