DISTRIBUTION: USA: Sierra Nevada from Mt. Lassen to San Bernardino Mtns (California); W Nevada.

SYNONYMS: callipeplus Merriam, 1893; frater J. Allen, 1890; sequoiensis (A. Howell, 1922).

COMMENTS: Subgenus Neotamias .
