All palpalae thickened and pectinate, 13–15 long. Setae vF 50 long, smooth. Subcapitulum ventrally with small lateral folds, bearing setae n and m. Idiosoma 200 long. Dorsal shield 155 long and 145 wide, with attenuated posterior part. Setae vi 65, ve 63, si 80, se 85, and c2 83 all serrate. Setae vi situated on dorsal shield, other setae off this shield. Setae 3a absent. Legs I and II with 5 articulated segments. Genital opening situated in posterior third of dorsal shield, flanked by 3 pairs of short genital setae. Distance g1–g1 and g2–g2 about 30, g3–g3 about 17. Aedeagus 220 long. Setation of legs I and II (number of solenidia in parentheses): tarsi 8 (1)–7 (1), tibiae 5–5, genua 3–3, femora 2–2, trochanters 1–1. Type material examined. Holotype female ( OSAL 0083623), 1 female and 1 male paratype ( OSAL 0083623) from Legatus leucophaius (Vieillot) ( Passeriformes : Tyrannidae ) [in/on skin], TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO: Sangre Grande, Cumuto, 1.6 km E on Cumuto Road, 10.58°N, 61.2°W (GEONet), 10 May 1960, coll. T.H.G. Aitken.

Etymology. The species name derives from the generic name of the host and is a noun in apposition.

Differential diagnosis. This species differs from the other two species of this genus by the absence of setae 3a and by smooth setae vi, si, se, and c2. Females of the new species differ from Fainharpirhynchus contopus Bochkov and Galloway, 2013 (only females known) by the absence of setae d of femora-genua I and II (vs. present in F. contopus ). Females of the new species differ from Fainharpirhynchus mossi sp. nov. (only females known) by the subequal pectinate palpalae dG (vs. palpalae dG with large anteriorly directed projection located in median part and 2 small subapical projections in F. mossi sp. nov.) and legs IV bearing four setae (vs. 2–3 setae in F. mossi sp. nov.).
