( Figs. 10 View FIGURE 10 and 11 View FIGURE 11 )
Description. FEMALE (holotype, Figs. 10 View FIGURE 10 and 11 View FIGURE 11 ). Body, including gnathosoma, 335 long (330–350 in 6 paratypes) and 285 wide (280–290). Gnathosoma about 80 long and 110 wide. Palps about 50 long and 45 wide. Palpalae dF 30 long (29–30), dG 25 long (25–26), and l”G 27 long (27–28), thickened and pectinate. Setae vF about 25 long, smooth. Peritrematal branch about 35 long. Idiosoma about 280 long. Dorsal shield about 110 long and 155 wide, without distinct punctations. Anterior margin of dorsal shield widely concave, posterior margin widely convex. Ventral surface of idiosoma without striations. Setae vi, si, and se all smooth, about 50 long; h1 about 35 long, h2 about 20 long, both smooth. Legs I and II with 5 articulated segments each. Setation of legs I and II (number of solenidia in parentheses): tarsi 8(1)–7(1), tibiae 5–5, genua 3–1, femora 2–2, trochanters 1–1. Solenidia as in Fig. 11 View FIGURE 11 C and E. Legs III with 2 articulated segments, basal segment without setae, apical segment with 5 setae.
MALE. Unknown.
Type material examined. Holotype female ( OSAL 0083703) and 6 female paratypes ( OSAL 0 0 83182, 0 0 83183, 0 0 83697, 0083699-0083701) from Caprimulgus fossii Hartlaub (Caprimulgiformes: Caprimulgidae ) [in skin], MOZAMBIQUE: 19.88°S, 34.6°E (GEONet), 8 June 1968, coll. unknown.
Holotype deposition. OSAL.
Etymology. The species name derives from the generic name of the host and is a noun in apposition.
Differential diagnosis. This new species (only females known) differs from the other three species known in the genus Perharpyrhynchus by the subequal length of the palpalae (vs. palpalae l”G distinctly shorter than dF and dG in the other species of this genus); five-segmented legs I and II (vs. four-segmented), and the presence of setae h1 and one other seta on trochanter II (vs. absence of these setae).
