Biology

Lasioglossum busckiellum has been recorded from flowers of Parthenium L. ( Asteraceae ).

Remarks

Lasioglossum busckiellum View in CoL was described from the Island of St. Domingo, now Hispaniola, probably from the Dominican Republic. This species belongs to the Lasioglossum parvum View in CoL species group, which includes bees also referred to as the L. tegulare View in CoL species group ( Ellis 1914a; Gibbs 2009a). Wolcott (1948) recorded L. busckiellum View in CoL from Puerto Rico based on specimens identified by Krombein and Sandhouse. Both L. busckiellum View in CoL and L. parvum View in CoL have distinctive punctation in the apical impressed areas of the metasomal T2–T3, which are absent in all L. parvum View in CoL group specimens examined from Puerto Rico, including one identified as L. busckiellum View in CoL by Krombein. Lasioglossum busckiellum View in CoL has darker tegula than does L. parvum View in CoL . Some specimens of L. enatum sp. nov. seem to have dark tegula suggestive of L. busckiellum View in CoL .
