Type locality: Austria. Lectotype (designated by Hurkmans, 1993: 176), examined: male, Austria, ( NHMW, Egger collection), [specimen dry pinned]. Original label: ‘Austria Alte Sammlung / Merodon aberrans Egger’. This

designation was based on a syntype in good condition from the Vienna Museum .
