Beirut and the Lebanon, Selys. Ismailia, ♀, 29.ix.1914, in my collection, received from Graves, who reported that it was very abundant there .

A species characteristic of many parts of what Buxton terms the Great Palaearctic Desert, or at least of its fringes. Has a wide distribution over the African Continent, and occurs on islands of the Indian Ocean. Given to wandering, and sometimes overflowing beyond its normal range, it may perhaps, like Sympetrum fonscolombei , become temporarily resident in unusual localities. Miss Fountaine saw it in Corsica, apparently quite at home, flying along the banks of wooded streams at Luri, Cap Corse at the beginning of May 1906 (E. M. M. xliii, p. 1).
