Aldrichiopa View in CoL hosts
Aldrichiopa coracella View in CoL has been reported as a parasitoid of the Chilean carpenter worm Chilecomadia valdiviana View in CoL ( Artigas 1994; Baldini & Pancel 2002; Estay 2020) and Chilecomadia moorei ( Artigas 1994) View in CoL . Cortés (1948) explains that A. coracella View in CoL was obtained from the last larval instar of a Langsdorfia sp. The larva of the moth emerges from the egg laid in the bark of fruit and forest trees and penetrates the interior of the tree without leaving it until it is ready to pupation. Considering the evidence of ovolarviparity of A. coracella View in CoL the larva could be deposited very near its host. Furthermore, Cortes (1968) mentioned an interesting finding that 11 Aldrichiopa View in CoL specimens were obtained from a single Langsdorfia View in CoL larva which indicates a gregarious parasitoid behavior.
