Distribution: Afrotropical. South Africa.
Larval host plant(s): unknown.

Remarks: Parenti (1988) noted without further explanation that Phthinostoma infumata Meyrick is not an elachistid. Kaila (2011a) and Kaila & Sugisima (2011) considered it a member of the genus Perittia .
