NOTES

Reported by Matteri (1986), this species is related to Bryum caespiticium Hedw. and is generally not recognized by most northern hemisphere workers (but seeSpence 2014). It is characterized by a very long costa, often as long as the lamina and commonly denticulate. It has been reported in earlier studies from the region by Greene (1986). A disjunct bipolar/South American species restricted to southern South American.
