Gilpinia laricis (Jurine, 1807)
( Figs 5O, P View FIGURES 5 , 8E, F View FIGURES 8 , 9D, E View FIGURES 9 )
Ovipositor. Lance dorsally without median furrow, with short apical cleft (often difficult to see), in lateral view with dorsal margin nearly straight ( Figs 8E, F View FIGURES 8 ); posterior projection on processus articularis apically extending to or near most basal annular suture of lance, mostly fused with main body of lance, in dorsal view narrow, and in lateral view ventrally slightly expanded beyond main body of lance. Lancet ventrally convex at second annulus ( Figs 9D, E View FIGURES 9 ); sclerotized band of radix barely curved and as wide as olistheter at twisted part (arrowed part); lamnium with 9 annuli, length from ventral end of first ctenidium to apex 2.5–2.6 × maximum width; sclerite before first annulus narrow; basal three ctenidia arched, more apical ctenidia nearly straight; first annulus without serrula, with ctenidi- um slightly separated from ventral margin of lancet; serrula of second annulus much larger than other serrulae, with precalcar widely separated from postcalcar.
Material examined. 1♀ ( Figs 5O, P View FIGURES 5 , 9D View FIGURES 9 ), Germany, Gross Schönebeck NE 8km, J. Golldack; 1♀ ( Fig. 9E View FIGURES 9 ), “ POLAND: 1959. H. Pschorn-Walcher. B.M.1960-386.” ; 1♀ ( Figs 8E, F View FIGURES 8 ), Austria, Piesting, Tschek; 1♀, Bulgaria , Sofia Province , Rila Mountains, Borovets, 1300–1500 m, 9–13. VII. 1975, A. Shinohara .
Remarks. The ovipositor of G. laricis is very similar to those of G. hakonensis and similar species but differs from them as stated under the remarks in the section of the latter above.
We have examined a female specimen of this species collected in Borovets, a well-known mountain resort on Rila Mountains in western Bulgaria. Gilpinia laricis has not been recorded from Bulgaria ( Taeger et al. 2018) and the specimen represents the first definite collection record of G. laricis from Bulgaria. The specimen was swept from the foliage of Pinus sp. , where a long series of specimens of a conifer-feeding pamphiliid, Acantholyda posticalis pinivora Enslin, 1918 , were obtained ( Shinohara 1985).
