Type species: Parasemia agnitaria Hübner, 1823 . Brazil. [Junior homonym of Parasemia Hübner, [1820] 1816 ( Lepidoptera : Arctiidae ).]

Taxonomic status. There is no replacement name for this junior homonym. Fletcher (1979: 189) stated that the type species P. agnitaria is congeneric with Semiothisa gambaria Hübner , the type species of Semiothisa . This suggestion is reasonable if Semiothisa is understood in the very broad sense in which it has often been used.
