Re-definition of Hoplasoma unicolor species group
The group is characterised by the last male ventrite with a well defined subquadrate or subtriangular area and abdomen in male with one pair of processes from the posterior margin of the second ventrite ( Fig. 45 View FIGURES 45–47 ). Rarely the processes can be rudimentary (in H. ceylonense Jacoby, 1886 , Fig. 46 View FIGURES 45–47 ) or abdomen with two pairs of processes (on the first and the second ventrites – in H. apicale Jacoby, 1884 , Fig. 47 View FIGURES 45–47 ). Dorsal colouration is uniformly orange or brown with exception of H. apicale (with black apical half of elytra).
Comments. The Hoplasoma unicolor species group was insufficiently defined within the revision of H. unicolor and its synonyms ( Bezděk 2006). In the revision of Hoplasoma spp. from the Philippines ( Bezděk 2012) all the treated species were included to the H. unicolor species group but without any comments. Thus, the definition and species composition of this group were never exactly specified. For an exact list of species included see the checklist below.
