Phymatodes lividus (Rossi)

Numerous specimens of this Eurasian species have been collected in New York, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and Virginia indicating this species has been well established for several decades in many widespread localities and should be added to the North American faunal list as an introduced species. It is distinctive within its range, being most similar to P. t e s t a c e u s. It differs from that species in having tarsomere I equal in length to II and III together; densely, coarsely punctate elytra; and with dark lateral markings on the pronotum.
