Description. Head blackish brown, 1 st antennal segment and pronotal callar region reddish black, 4 th antennal segment black; collar and posterior lobe of pronotum yellowish brown, median line on posterior pronotal lobe reddish black. Scutellum black, clavus and the entire corium light yellowish brown, the corial tubercle darkened to dark brown. Membrane light yellowish brown, with a few brown spots.
Head with distinct erect hairs nearly as long as or longer than eye’s width. Labium reaching the anterior margin of hind coxae. Pronotum flat, anterior part of pronotum with erect hairs. Anterior half of the posterior pronotal lobe without median, the posterior end of mid-line not terminated into a tubercle, posterolateral angle flat or only slightly raised. Lateral margin of posterior pronotal lobe with 3–4 small teeth ( Figs. 15 &16 View FIGURES 9–16 ).
Abdominal laterotergite V slightly expanding outward, triangular; laterotergite VI slightly hook-like, considerably produced; laterotergite VII subtriangular, lateral and posterior margin with 3–4 small teeth ( Fig. 20 View FIGURES 17–20 ).
Pygophore normal shape, distal margin slightly convex ( Figs. 23, 26 View FIGURES 21–30 ).
Measurements. As shown in Table 1.
Type material. Holotype, ♂, China: Xizang: Linzhi City, Medog County, 11.vii.2013, Wenbo Yi . Paratypes, 2♀♀, same data as the holotype .
Etymology. The specific name, externus , refers to its laterotergite VI considerably expanding outward.
Remarks. This species closely resembles M. pallidus , M. setosus and M. planus sp. nov. Both M. pallidus and M. externus sp. nov. are pale species. M. pallidus (3.51–3.81mm) is much smaller than M. externus sp. nov., the shape of abdominal laterotergites also not same. M. setosus has long hair of body, even on the both inner and outer margins of corium. In M. planus only the abdominal laterotergite VII expand significantly outward.
Distribution: China (Xizang).
