Genus Xenapates Kirby, 1882

Xenapates: Kirby 1882: 180 .

Type species: Dineura (?) africana Cameron, 1876: 470, by monotypy.

The genus Xenapates is characterised by a deeply emarginated clypeus with two strong lateral lobes, an asymmetric labrum, and asymmetric mandibles with a very large basal tooth on the left mandible ( Koch 1995, fig. 1a). The tarsal claw has a basal lobe, sometimes with a small notch but no subapical tooth ( Koch 1995, fig. 1g).
