Microphylellus brevicornis Knight, 1929a: 41 (n.
sp.).
HOLOTYPE: female: ‘‘ Santa Cruz Riv., Pima Co., Ariz., Apr. 20, 1926, A. A. Nichol’ ’. Deposited in the National Museum of Natural History.
The synonymy of Microphylellus with Plagiognathus leaves the placement of this species from Arizona in question. Because the type is a female, and because my studies so far have provided no obvious association with males that can be dissected, it is difficult to say what the affinities of this rather nondescript, pale species may be.
