Xenorthrius mouhoti Gorham 1892: 734 .

One of the examined syntypes turned out to be X. guerlachi . Gorham (1892) wrote about a single specimen from Bhamo, which he thought to be a female specimen of X. mouhoti , because of its shorter antennae and the shorter and stouter habitus.

Measurements: (44 specimens measured) Average total length: 11.2mm, range: 9.1–13.0mm, average elytral length: 7.5mm, average elytral width: 3.2mm, average pronotal length: 3.1mm, average pronotal width: 2.4mm, average head width: 2.4mm.

Head: Black, cranium densely vested with shorter setae and few longer setae on frontal umbo and frons, punctation dense; mandibles black, slightly reddish; with long setae laterally; posterior part of clypeus dark red-brown to black, margins darkened, with large punctation and a few long setae laterally, smooth centrally; ventral part smooth, except wrinkles behind the eyes; antennae red-brown, lighter then head capsule, A9 to A11 forming a distinct club, male antennae reaching base of pronotum when laid back; gular sutures diverging apically, gular process narrow.

Thorax: Average pronotal length:width ratio 1.3:1; pronotum dark red-brown to black, pronotal arch somewhat lighter on top, vested with yellowish setae, pronotal arch with sparse and fine punctation, about one third of pronotal length, pronotum proper with coarse and dense punctation; prosternum dark red-brown to black, smooth; mesosternum dark red-brown to black, margins darkened, vested with yellowish setae, circularly elevated centrally; metasternum black, vested with fine setae, punctation sparse; anterior metasternal process with two strongly sclerotized, ventrally projecting, edges; scutellum oval, red-brown, margins darkened.

Elytra: Average length:width ratio 2.3:1; basal quarter black, often with one yellow macula on each elytron, a yellow fascia which is 8 to 11 punctures in length in second quarter, extending from lateral to sutural margin, postmedian fascia black, sometimes dark red-brown near suture, apex yellow, in some specimens the basal black area is reduced to a small black macula on each elytron, rectangular subcutaneous structures visible through yellow areas, vested with short decumbent and longer erect setae, punctation relatively large, striae 1 and 2 obsolete in middle of yellow fascia, other striae reaching black postmedian fascia, interstices between striae not exceeding one puncture diameter in length, interstices within striae smaller than one diameter of punctures; punctation often rasp-like in basal black fascia, slightly carinated between lateral striae in apical half.

Legs: Yellow, tarsi brown, tarsal pulvilli pale; metatibiae slightly bent, anterior and posterior face of each tibia carinate, carination red-brown, distinct, especially on metatibia.

Abdomen: Ventrites red-brown, lighter to the apex, punctation sparse; anterior margin of male pygidium slightly emarginate, extensions nearly as long as tergit; male ventrite 6 with broad V-shaped emargination. Male genitalia ( Fig. 37 View FIGURE 37 ): Dorsal sinus slightly deeper and narrowed inside; phallus asymmetric, twisted anteriorly, tip stronger sclerotized, horizontal groove narrow; spicular fork dividing into two branches after one sixth of length.

Distribution: Myanmar, India, Thailand, Laos, southern China.

Seasonal occurrence: Collected from March to December.
