( Figures 55 View FIGURE 55 and 70B View FIGURE 70 )
Xenorthrius subfasciatus Gorham 1892: 735 .
Xenorthrius subfasciatus ab. Gorham 1892: 735.
Specimen examined: Holotype: Myanmar: Palon (Pegu), L. Fea. VIII.IX.87; Typus; subfasciatus Gorh .; Holotypus, Xenorthrius subfasciatus, Gorham, 1892 ; Museo Civico di Genova (♂, MSNG) .
Measurements: (1 specimen measured) Total length: 12.0mm, elytral length: 7.7mm, elytral width: 3.1mm, pronotal length: 3.3mm, pronotal width: 2.6mm, head width: 2.5mm.
Head: Black, cranium vested with long setae, with weak and sparse punctation; mandibles entirely black; posterior part of clypeus black, with large punctation and a few long setae laterally, smooth centrally; ventral part wrinkled, smooth centrally; antennae red-brown, terminal antennomeres lighter apically, scapus dorsally yellow, A9 to A11 slightly clubbed, male antennae not reaching base of pronotum when laid back; gular sutures diverging apically, gular process narrow.
Thorax: Average pronotal length:width ratio 1.3:1; pronotum black, densely vested with yellow setae, especially along subapical depression, pronotal arch broad, punctation extremely fine dorsally, with denser punctation laterally, pronotum proper with coarse and very dense punctation, punctation often merging to longitudinal wrinkles; prosternum black, smooth; mesosternum black, vested with yellowish setae; metasternum red-brown, vested with fine setae, punctation sparse and fine; transverse sulcus on anterior part of mesosternum and mesepisternum relatively distinct on mesosternum, anterior metasternal process with two strongly sclerotized, ventrally projecting, edges; scutellum oval, black.
Elytra: Average length:width ratio 2.5:1; base narrowly black, remainder colored red to yellow except apical quarter which is black and divided by a narrow yellow band centrally, rectangular subcutaneous structures visible through reddish-yellow area, densely vested with short decumbent and longer erect setae, punctation large, striae 1, 2, 9 and 10 obsolete before apical black area, other striae present in apical third but weak behind apical yellow fascia, interstices between and within striae smaller than one diameter of punctures, punctation slightly rasp-like in humeral region, very slightly carinated next to striae 4 to 7 in postmedian fascia.
Legs: Coxa, trochanter and femora yellow, anterior and posterior face of femora black, tibia and tarsi black, tarsal pulvilli pale; metatibiae bent, anterior and posterior face of each tibia carinate, carination black, distinct, especially on metatibia.
Abdomen: Ventrites red-brown, interstices among punctation about one diameter of punctures; male pygidium apically black, sub-ovate, arms long; male ventrite 6 yellow, only slightly emarginate. Male genitalia ( Fig. 55 View FIGURE 55 ): Tegmen more slender apically; phallic plates broad; spicular fork dividing into two branches after one quarter of length.
In this study no specimen of the aberration of Xenorthrius subfasciatus was present. According to the description of Gorham (1892) it has entirely yellow legs.
Distribution: Myanmar.
Seasonal occurrence: Collected in August/September.
