Diagnosis. Wiedemannia fallaciosa differs by acrostichals widely divergent around prescutellar depression, 5 pairs of dorsocentrals with interspersed shorter setae between first two pairs, olive-brown scutum with two lighter stripes between rows of acrostichals and dorsocentrals (viewed from any angle), with bluish-green postpronotal lobe, lower margin of notopleuron and prescutellar depression, scutellum with several marginal setulae, fore femur apically without strong anterior setae; clasping cercus bilobed, mitten-shaped.

Distribution. PALAEARCTIC: Europe: Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, European Turkey, Finland, French mainland, Germany, Greek mainland, Hungary, Italian mainland, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spanish mainland, Sweden, Switzerland; Caucasus: Russia (Karachay- Cherkess Republic), Georgia; Asia: Lebanon, Syria, Kirgizstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan; North Africa: Morocco.

Remarks. Engel (1940) listed W. fallaciosa from the Caucasus, but without any collection data. Our data specifies the distribution of this species on the Caucasus in Russia and Georgia. This uncommon species is known from montane rivers at elevations ranging from 360–1459 m a.s.l. and is active from April to May.
