Holotype: ZISP 17598 View Materials , “Rintja Island in the Lesser Sundas Archipelago” [ Rinca Island , West Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tengarra, Indonesia].
Etymology: From Greek “ oxy ”, sharp, peaked, cuspate and “ cephal ”, head, referring to the species head shape. Present name: Sphenomorphus schlegeli (Dunn, 1927) fide Auffenberg (1980).
