Stapecolis bimaculatus Garbelotto & Campos sp. nov.

( Figs. 3 View FIGURES 2 – 3. 1 , 6 and 7 View FIGURES 4 – 7 )

Type locality. Colombia, Palmira (3.5394; -76.3036).

Etymology. The name refers to the yellow maculae on apex of radial vein of corium. Latin: bi, two; maculae (f.), spot, mark; -atus, provided with.

Male holotype. COLOMBIA, Valle del Cauca: Palmira, VIII.1944, B. Losada S., [3.5394; -76.3036], 5.297, Alitocoris ? sp. LHR 80 (AMNH collection number: AMNH _ IZC 00114310 ) GoogleMaps .

No paratypes.

Description. General color brown, punctures darker. Maculae on apex of radial vein of corium big and yellow.

Antennal segments I–III and basal half of IV dark brown, apical half of IV and V yellowish; segments ratio: I>II<III>IV<V, second the shortest, first subequal to IV. Labium yellowish with apical half of segment IV black; segment II reaching between pro- and mesocoxae; apex reaching middle of urosternite IV; segments ratio: I<II>III<IV.

Pronotum with anterior half dark brown and matte, posterior half brown and glossy; anterolateral margin irregularly crenulated. Scutellum without spots on fovea. Corium with yellow maculae on apex of radial vein, size equivalent to an eye. Legs brown.

Abdominal disc glossy.

Male. Measurements (n=1). Head length, 2.11; width, 2.5; pronotum length, 2.79; width, 5.98; scutellum length, 4.26; width, 3.33; length of antennal segments: I, 0.72; II, 0.39; III, 1.81; IV, 0.94; V, 1.5; length of labium segments: I, 0.8; II, 1.4; III, 1.05; IV, 0.95; total length, 11.42; abdominal width, 6.52.

Genitalia. Apex of foliaceus projection of the inferior layer of ventral rim with a small carina bearing 1+1 minute spine lateral to segment X ( Fig. 6 View FIGURES 4 – 7 ); posterior margin of ventral rim excavated near median margin, excavation formed by the posterior limit of the subrectangular expansion of the inferior layer of ventral rim ( Figs. 6–7 View FIGURES 4 – 7 ). Rectangular paired projections of inferior layer of ventral rim spatulate below the ventral opening, truncated at apex ( Fig. 7 View FIGURES 4 – 7 ). Ventral opening narrowed, about two times longer than wide ( Fig. 7 View FIGURES 4 – 7 ). Median conical projection of inferior layer of ventral rim reaching the margin of ventral opening ( Fig. 7 View FIGURES 4 – 7 ).

Female. Unknown.

Comments. This species was included as “sp. 10” in the phylogeny of the clade Herrichella ( Garbelotto et al. 2013) . Stapecolis bimaculatus sp. nov. differs from S. latus sp. nov. by the anterolateral margins of pronotum more intensely crenulate; on the male genitalia by the 1+1 minute spine on the carina at the apex of foliaceus expansions of the inferior layer of ventral rim ( Fig. 6 View FIGURES 4 – 7 ), the rectangular projections of inferior layer of ventral rim spatulate, and the ventral opening of pygophore narrowed, all in addition to the key characters ( Fig. 7 View FIGURES 4 – 7 ).
