Description

Measurements. BL= 7.9 mm, FL= 4.1 mm, HL= 1.1 mm, HW=1.0 mm, PL= 1.4 mm, PW= 0.9 mm, EL= 1.4 mm, EW= 1.2 mm.

Body cylindrical, medium sized. Body dark brown, except elytra brunneus. Legs and antennae entirely dark brown. Maxillary and labial palpi brown.

Head (Fig. 6A). Subquadrated (HL to HW ratio 1.1), temple parentheses-shaped, broadest in middle, posterior angles rounded. Dorsal integument shiny, without microsculpture, but extensively with micropunctures, also densely distributed with round, deep, large-sized punctures, interspaces between punctures less than puncture’s diameter, except circle of diameter ca. 0.25 mm on disc impunctate. Each side of cranium also with frontal puncture on epistoma, anterolateral punctures near antennal insertion, four large punctures on frontal region, midlateral puncture approximately a distance of 5–6 punctures’ diameter from dorsal margin of eye, temporal puncture and occipital puncture not obvious; deflexed portion of head bearing 2–3 rows of small punctures. Frontal furrows and anteocular furrows deep, subequal to 1/2 of eye length, anteocular furrows arriving line connecting midth of each eye. Eye of large size, longer than 1/2 of temple length (eye: temple = 0.39: 0.54 mm), obviously protruding laterad. Epistoma protruding forwards, of subrectangular shape, anterior margin subtruncated. Distance between antennal insertions 0.30 mm, equal to that from antenna to eye (0.30 mm).

segments, ventral view. Scale bars 0.30 mm.

Antennae. Scape stout, thickened apically, longer than three subsequent antennomeres combined, 0.66 mm; antennomere II elongate, slightly dilated subapically, 0.21 mm, subequal to III; III elongate, 0.20 mm; IV and V transverse, subequal in length, 0.09 mm; last antennomere of medium length, 0.27 mm, subequal to preceding two antennomeres combined.

Neck. Medium width (0.36 mm), slightly wider than 1/3 of head width.

Pronotum (Fig. 6B). Subrectangular, distinctly elongated (PL to PW ratio 1.5), longer than head, but slight narrower. Obviously widened anteriad, lateral margins slightly sinuate, anterior angles obviously protruding and angulated, posterior angles broadly rounded. Integument shiny, microsculpture missing, micropunctures presenting. More than two rows of setiferous punctures presenting on each side, admedian row consisting of 14–17 large punctures; 3–4 lateral rows, curvedly arranged, of same sized punctures as admedian row; other irregular punctures densely distributed near anterior margin.

Mesoscutellum. Shiny, extensively covered with isodiameter meshes, and with several small, irregular punctures.

Elytra (Fig. 6C). Subrectangular (EL to EW ratio 1.2), obviously wider than pronotum, but of same length. Humeri well developed, lateral margins distinctly widened posteriorly, hind margin slightly arcuate. Integument shiny and flattened, without microsculpture; each elytron with 7–9 rows of medium-sized punctures; deflexed portion with 5–7 rows of smaller setiferous punctures.

Abdomen. Cylindrical, broadest at segment VI. Tergites III–VII shiny, covered with superficial transverse microstriae, also distributed with small setiferous punctures, interspaces between punctures near 1–2 punctures’ diameter, denser laterobasally; each segment with basal impression, which bearing isodiameter meshes. Surface between two basal transverse carinae impunctate, but bearing distinct polygonal reticulum. All abdominal sternites shiny, with microsculpture and setiferous punctures as those on tergites.

Male. Abdominal segment VIII entirely covered with setiferous punctures, except a narrow medial longitudinal impunctate band; posterior margins of tergite VIII slightly protruding backwards (Fig. 6-1A), that of sternite VIII subtruncated (Fig. 6-1B). Tergite IX symmetrical, connected mediobasally. Sternite IX asymmetrical, with acuminate base and subtruncated posterior margin (Fig. 6C). Tergite X symmetrical and subtriangular, with sharpened base and subtruncated posterior margin (Fig. 6D), in situ broadly exposed between tergite IX. Median lobe of aedeagus elliptical and large sized (Fig. 6-1E, F), basal piece with transparent, membranous mediallongitudinal band (Fig. 6G); basal bulb 1.23 mm long, anterior portion short, 0.23 mm (Fig. 6E, F). Parameres symmetrical and thin, slightly shorter than 1/3 of basal bulb length. Internal sac with paired rows of solid and long spines, basal part with curved, soft tape-shaped scales (Fig. 6E, F; Fig. 6-1E, F).

Female. Posterior margin of sternite VIII (Fig. 6G) gradually protruding backwards. Genital segment medium sized (Fig. 6H), 0.77 mm long, sternite with subtruncated base, supplementary paired sclerites subtriangular and large sized, 0.46 mm long, overlapped entire basal margin of genital sternite.

Distribution. China (Hainan, Yunnan).

Etymology. The specific epithet is derived from the Latin word " solid -" (solid).

Remarks. This species could be distinguished from its congeners by: 1) head subquadrate, temple parentheses-shaped; 2) distributed pattern of punctures on head; 3) eye large sized, longer than 1/2 of temple length; 4) anterior angles of pronotum obviously protruding and angulated; 5) each side of pronotum with several lateral rows of large setiferous punctures; 6) elytra with deep and obvious punctures arranged in 7–9 rows on each elytron;7) male tergite X subtriangular; 8) male sternite IX asymmetrical, with acuminate base and subtruncated posterior margin; 9) internal sac morphology.
