Diagnosis. Body length considerably vary from 4.5 to 6.5 mm. Red-brown, elytra with black band behind middle that reaching lateral margins ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 1 – 6 ). Species easily distinguishable from other related species by the aedeagal isomerism ( Fig. 19 View FIGURES 19 – 21 ).

Head densely and coarsely punctate, sometimes punctures confluent and rugose. Head and clypeus with strong, almost isodiametric microsculpture throughout. Eyes large and bulging. Temples short, smooth.

Pronotum transverse, 1.33–1.36 times as wide as head, 1.5–1.6 times as wide as long, widest just behind the middle or in the middle. Anterior margin straight, anterior angles effaced, sides narrowly and regularly rounded in anterior half, almost straight at base, weakly sinuate before rectangular posterior angles. Disc usually strongly punctate, punctures confluent and often wavy rugate. Lateral explanate margin rapidly widened from marginal setae, punctate, broad and flat at base. Basal grooves indistinct, flat. Microsculpture strong and irregular. Elytra subparallel, 1.47–1.62 times as long as wide, with polygonal microsculpture. Striae deep and finely punctate. Intervals 3 – 7 convex at humerus, gradually flattened towards apices; other intervals slightly convex at base and flat at apex. Claws with 5 – 6 teeth.

Propleuron strongly rugose towards coxae, mes- and metepisterna smooth.

Aedeagal median lobe elongate, median shaft slightly arcuate between basal bulb and narrow apice. Endophallus with numerous sclerotized denticles ( Fig. 19 View FIGURES 19 – 21 ).

Distribution. It was described from Salisbury ( Zimbabwe). At the present time it is known from Botswana, Democratic republic of the Congo, Djibouti, Kenya, Mozambique, RSA, Zambia, Zimbabwe ( Fig. 34).
