Material examined. Holotype male, “Waterfall Creek”, Manokwari, West Papua Province, 0° 52.888 S 134° 0 2.628 E, alt. 23 m asl, 11-xi-2011 (RMNH).

Diagnosis. Expanded coxal area with six pairs of glandularia.

Description. Male: Idiosoma 575 long, 316 wide and 356 high, with a wide dorsal strip without sclerites; colour of idiosoma not recorded, and cannot be ascertained after mounting. Expanded coxal area with six pairs of glandularia. Tips of Cx-I with 2 long, curved setae. Coxal area posteriorly not extending beyond posterior margin of genital field. Genital field with three pairs of acetabula, the anterior two pairs elongated. Lengths of PI-PV: 30, 28, 36, 40, 16; PIV stocky. First legs not measurable. Lengths of IV-leg-4–6: 62, 70, 80; distal seta of IV-leg-6, 98 long.

Female: Unknown.

Etymology. Named after the town of Manokwari.

Remarks. The new species is close to a number of Australian species with more than four glandularia in the expanded coxal area. Oxus crassiseta Cook, 1986 and O. cormela Cook, 1986 have both four pairs of glandularia in the expanded coxal area. Two Australian species with five pairs of glandularia in the expanded coxal area, O. zunova (Cook, 1986) and O. setipalpis (Cook, 1986) have the dorsal strip with a median sclerite. A rheophilic species, occurring in streams.
