Diagnosis. Shell small, fragile, subquadrate to trapezoidal, posterior portion of shell higher and more convex than anterior, posteriorly gaping; sculpture of commarginal growth lines; hinge with projecting chondrophores in both valves; pallial sinus small.

Type species. Myalina subovata Conrad, 1845 (by monotypy).
