Hopkinsiella Clay & Meinertzhagen, 1939: 166 . Type species: Hopkinsiella hopkinsi Clay & Meinertzhagen, 1939 (by original designation). Preoccupied by Hopkinsiella Baba, 1938: 9 . Type-species: Hopkinsiella hiroi Baba, 1938 (by original designation).

Etymology. The proposed new name perpetuates the homage to George Henry Evans Hopkins (1898–1973) as intended by Clay and Meinertzhagen.

Three louse species are included in Georgeiella nom. nov., all obligate ectoparasites on African birds of the family
