DISTRIBUTION. Previously known from Baja California, Guerrero, and Veracruz, Mexico ( Reuter 1908). Guatemala is a new country record.

TYPE MATERIAL EXAMINED. Reuter (1908) listed specimens from Orizaba [Veracruz], St. Marcos (Guerrero), Guadalupe (Baja California), and Cordoba (Veracruz), Mexico, in his original description, all of which are considered syntypes .

TYPE DESIGNATIONS. To ensure nomenclature stability, we are designating the following male in the USNM collection as the lectotype of Caulotops cyaneipennis : label 1) “ Cordoba [,] Mexico ”; label 2, “10 May 08”; label 3, “ Fredk Knab ”; 4 (handwritten), “ Caulotops cyaneipennis Reut. Det. T. Y. Hsiao ”; 5 (red, here added), “ Lectotype: Caulotops cyaneipennis Reuter , desig. by T. J. Henry and K. L. Menard. ” Four additional specimens in the FMNH (1 ♂ from Orizaba and 1♀ from Cordoba) and the USNM (2 ♀♀ from Cordoba) are labeled as paralectotypes .
