Type material: Holotype ECOSUR 043 Contoy Island, Mexican Caribbean (21°30'08.4"N 86°47'45.3"W), VI.1993, 3m, inside Strombus gigas shell. Paratypes: ECOSUR 044 (1) Off Xahayxol, Mexican Caribbean (18°30'15"N 87°45'32"W), 1.VI.1999, 1.5m. ECOSUR 045 (1), 046 (2) Off Xahayxol, Mexican Caribbean (1830'15"N 87°45'32"W), 25.IX.1996, 2m. LACM-AHF Poly 2116 (2) Off Xahayxol, Mexican Caribbean (18°30'15"N 87°45'32"W), 28.IX.1996, 2m. LACM-AHF Poly 2117 (1) Off Herradura Point, Mexican Caribbean (18°32'23"N 87°44'32"W), 27.IX.1996, 2m.

Diagnosis: Eyespots in two lateral groups of 15–20 eyespots each, continued dorsally as a band of smaller ones. Eleven short ventral shields from segment 2; nephridial papillae on segment 17; 25–35 pairs of notopodia; notochaetae of two types, bilimbate capillaries of equal length on segments 4–10; spinosphaera chaetae of two lengths, on segments 11–25. Neuropodia with uncini avicular in single rows on segments 5–10, in double rows from segment 11 up to end of body; thoracic uncini MF:6–7:6–7:11–12:11–12; abdominal uncini MF:4–6:5–6:7–8. Pygidium with many papillae on rosette-like with numerous projections.

Staining pattern: Only ventral shields stain deeply. The remaining structures remain pale.
