Remarks: Paranarthrura insignis and P. angolensis are very similar in their general appearances. The shape of the chela in P. i n s i g n i s is very characteristic and differs from that of P. angolensis in that the finger is more curved and the propodus is wider than in P. angolensis . Both species have a very wide bathymetric distribution between 582 and 5464 m depth ( Bird & Holdich 1989; Guerrero Kommritz, Schmidt & Brandt 2002).
