Type material: Holotype ♂, “ 4 km W of Hazewa, Arava ” ( Israel), Naturalis Biodiversity Center Leiden .

New records. ISRAEL AND PALESTINE: Arava Rift Valley, Iddan, 6.– 7.3.2010.

Distribution. Known so far only from the Arava valley ( Israel) and from Palmyra ( Syria).

Pollen hosts. Possibly oligolectic on Tamarix (Tamaricaceae) : all 4 pollen loads (2 localities, 1 country) analyzed so far consisted of Tamarix pollen, and the entire type series of H. aravensis composed of 16 females and 5 males has been collected on Tamarix ( Zanden, 1992) .

Nesting biology. Unknown.
