Diagnosis. Males can be distinguished from other Hispaniolan species of the agujas group by a larger and heavily sclerotized median apophysis ( Fig. 4B View FIGURE 4 ), apical projection on embolar base bowed and claw-shaped ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 A–B). Females are distinguished from other Hispaniolan species of agujas group by the wide and straight anterior edges of epigynal posterior plates ( Fig. 4D View FIGURE 4 ).

Description. Male (MNHNSD 09.1632). carapace orange, without gray paramedian bands ( Fig. 10D View FIGURE 10 ). Legs orange, with tibiae of legs I and II dark orange and metatarsus and tarsus brown ( Fig. 10D View FIGURE 10 ); metatarsus and tarsus of legs III and IV dark orange. Chelicerae orange. Labium, endites, sternum and coxae orange with dark orange edges. Abdomen dorsally gray with white spots ( Fig. 10D View FIGURE 10 ), ventrally yellow. Total length 10.9, carapace length 6.0, width 4.3. Eye diameters: AME 0.16, ALE 0.18, PME 0.20, PLE 0.18. Chelicerae 2.2 long, with 3 promarginal and 2 retromarginal teeth. Leg femur length: I—4.8; II—4.7; III—4.4; IV—5.4. Leg spination: I—tibia v2-2-2, p1-1-0, r1-1-0, d0; metatarsus v2-2-0, p1-2-0, r1-1-0, d0; II—tibia v2-2-2, p1-1-0, r1-1-0, d0, metatarsus v2-2-0, p1-2-0, r1- 1-0, d0; III—tibia v2-2-2, p1-1-0, r1-1-0, d1-1-0, metatarsus v2-2-1, p1-1-0, r1-1-0, d2-2-2; IV—tibia v2-2-2, p1- 1-0, r1-1-0, d0, metatarsus v2-2-2, p1-1-1, r1-1-1, d2-2-2. Palp: cymbial groove half-moon shaped, distally closed, reaching ventral margin of cymbium; retrolateral tibial apophysis short and truncated distally; median apophysis large, palette-shaped, projecting anteriorly and separated about 45° from the embolus; apical projection of embolar base curved and sharp at tip, claw-shaped; embolar base covered by sub-quadrangular ventral tegular process, directed proximally ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 A–C).

Female (holotype, IBSP 168408). Described by Brescovit et al. (2018). Supplement: female papal claw with four teeth ( Fig. 4F View FIGURE 4 ).

Remarks. Specimens of both sexes from Parque Nacional Valle Nuevo, La Vega Province represent new distribution records for this species, previously known only from San José de Ocoa Province ( Brescovit et al. 2018). All these specimens from La Vega were found in highland savannas above 2200 m.

Variation. Examined females from La Vega Province have the palp claw with four teeth ( Fig. 4F View FIGURE 4 ) while specimens from Las Agujas have only two.
