Description. Adult. Colouration. Head and thorax ochreous to orange. Vertex with yellow, partially interrupted stripes surrounding each half and yellow anteorbital tubercle. Genal processes with brown, transverse stripe at base, sometimes very light. Eyes dark greyish, ocelli orange. Antennal segments 1 and 2 ochreous, segment 3 light brown, segments 4–8 light brown with dark brown to black apices becoming increasingly longer towards apex; segments 9 and 10 almost black. Clypeus yellow; rostrum yellow with black tip. Pronotum irregularly greyish-brownish with a sublateral dark brown dot on either side. Mesopraescutum with yellow longitudinal median stripe, a brown submedial triangular line on either side anteriorly, and irregular brown dots posteriorly. Mesoscutum with two narrow brown longitudinal lines in the middle and two broad irregularly brown longitudinal bands on either side. Mesoscutellum dark brown in the middle, yellow laterally. Metathorax mostly brown in the middle and yellow laterally. Legs dark brown; tibiae and tarsi yellow. Forewing ( Fig. 127 View FIGURES 111–133 ) transparent, membrane slightly yellowish or greyish, veins brown with dark brown dots around radular spinules in cells r 2, m 1, m 2 and cu 1 as well as at the apices of veins Rs, M 1+2, M 3+4, Cu 1a and Cu 1b and the apex of clavus. Hindwing transparent, colourless with ochreous costa. Abdomen almost black, ochreous or brown in the middle dorsally, with each a longitudinal submedian and sublateral row of yellowish dots dorsally; intersegmental membranes dirty yellowish or light brown. Male terminalia almost black with partially yellow proctiger and mostly yellow parameres; female terminalia reddish brown, proctiger with basal and apical third dark brown. Light colour in younger specimens more expanded.

Structure. Head inclined in a 45° angle from longitudinal body axis. Genal processes irregularly narrowing towards blunt apex, 0.5–0.7 times as long as vertex along midline ( Fig. 118 View FIGURES 111–133 ). Antenna 2.8–2.9 times as long as head width. Rostrum short, apical segment and sometimes apex of basal segment visible in profile, 0.4–0.5 times as long as head width. Forewing ( Fig. 127 View FIGURES 111–133 ) 2.7–3.1 times as long as head width, 2.3–2.4 times as long as wide, broadly, evenly rounded apically; pterostigma moderately long, broad at base; cell cu 1 0.8–1.0 times higher than wide; surface spinules much reduced, present in apical half of cell r 1, in the middle of cells r 2, m 1, m 2 and cu 1 along wing margin, and in cell cu 2 leaving broad spinule-free stripes along the veins. Metatibia 0.5–0.6 times as long as head width. Terminalia as in Figs 137, 153, 154 View FIGURES 134–156 , 164 View FIGURES 157–167 . Male proctiger 0.4 times as long as head width, with narrow, slightly curved posterior lobes basally. Paramere lamellar; sclerotised apex obliquely truncate; inner surface sparsely covered in long setae. Distal segment of aedeagus tubular, hardly inflated in apical half, broadly rounded apically; sclerotised end tube of ductus ejaculatorius short, sinuous. Female proctiger 1.3–1.4 times as long as head width, dorsal outline weakly sinuous, apex obliquely truncate; circumanal ring 0.2 times as long as proctiger. Female subgenital plate 0.6 times as long as proctiger, apex upturned.

Measurements (in mm) and ratios (3 ♂, 3 ♀). Head width ♂ 0.82–0.84, ♀ 0.78–0.86; antenna length ♂ 2.28– 2.40, ♀ 2.20–2.46; forewing length ♂ 2.20–2.30, ♀ 2.38–3.46; male proctiger length 0.30–0.32; paramere length 0.28–0.30; length of distal segment of aedeagus 0.34; female proctiger length 1.10–1.20.

Fifth instar immature. Colouration. White, antenna yellowish with apices of flagellar segments conspicuously brown. Tibiae and tarsi greyish brown.

Structure. Body 1.4 times as long as wide. Antenna 9-segmented, 1.8 times as long as forewing pad. Marginal setae on forewing pad weakly capitate, long and medium long setae, the longer ones often longer than distance between bases of adjacent setae; setae on dorsum of wing pads pointed. Circumanal ring medium large, weakly indented anteriorly ( Fig. 174 View FIGURES 168–174 ).

Measurements (in mm) and ratios (1 immature). Body length 2.06, antenna length 1.20.

Etymology. Adjective, feminine form. From Latin repens = sudden, unexpected, for its unexpected discovery in Paraná.

Distribution. Brazil (MG, PR).

Host plant, biology and habitat. Copaifera langsdorffii Desf. —A triungulin of a Strepsiptera was discovered in the abdomen of a ♀ ( Fig. 221 View FIGURES 221–224 ).—Cerrado vegetation, transition from riparian vegetation to cerrado, Araucaria forest, park with planted trees.

Comments. Mitrapsylla repens differs from other copaiba psyllids as indicated in the key. It is closest to M. adusta (see comments to M. adusta ).
