Material examined. CHINA: Sichuan Province: 1 male, west of Heishui County, Shashiduoxiang , 2740 m, coniferous forests, pitfall traps, 23–26.VII.2001, coll. Xiaodong Yu, Hongzhang Zhou (IZ-CAS) ; 2 males, 2 females, west of Heishui County, Shashiduoxiang , 2775 m, mixed broadleaf-conifer forests, pitfall traps, 23–26.VII.2001, coll. Xiaodong Yu, Hongzhang Zhou (IZ-CAS) ; 5 males, 3 females, west of Heishui County, Shashiduoxiang , 2880 m, mixed broadleaf-conifer forests, pitfall traps, 23–26.VII.2001, coll. Measurements. Body length: 18.3–23.2 mm. CL: 0.72; EL: 2.90; ELS: 1.32; EW: 3.42; HL: 2.85; HW: 3.34; PO: 1.48; PL: 3.60; PW: 3.28.
Female. Second gonocoxite relatively long, with apical portion quite long and thin. Apical portion of tergite 10 markedly narrowed, strongly sclerotized.
Distribution. Ocypus orodes is at present known from northwestern Sichuan Province.
