Trichocoleus caatingensis N.M. Machado-de-Lima et Branco , sp. nov. Fig: 2h.

Thallus dark blue-green.Filaments entangled, 2.0 µm wide. Sheaths firm, thin, colorless, hyaline. Trichomes cylindrical, constricted at the granulated cross walls, 2.0 µm wide. Cells cylindrical, isodiametric, 2.0–4.0 µm long. Cell content blue-green, homogeneous. Apical cells conical-obtuse to sharply pointed, without calyptra, 4.0-5.0 µm long.

Etymology: L. adj. caatingensis = from Brazilian biome Caatinga.

Habitat: topsoil.
