Measurements. Body length males: 5.3–6.6 mm, body length females: 5.6–6.7 mm.

Redescription. Body elongate. Head black, labrum, labium and maxillae brown; four basal antennomeres light brown, while others black. Pronotum fulvous with a black spot of variable size near basal middle, the spot often “V”-shaped, or oblong, sometimes the spot stretching anteriad into a stripe, the stripe becoming narrower anteriad; in some paler specimens, the spot indistinct, even disappearing. Scutellum black. Elytra fulvous with black markings: one round humeral spot, one narrow stripe behind humerus at two thirds of elytral length, another stripe between basal one quarter to two thirds along elytral suture, sometimes the stripe connected to the former stripe and forming into a wide band; in darker specimens elytra black, each elytron with a fulvous spot at elytral apex and a fulvous transverse band behind humeri which are touching suture but not lateral sides; occasionally, the band is missing, the elytra black, each elytron only with a fulvous apical spot. Ventral side of body black. Legs fulvous, femora, upper sides of tibiae more or less black, tarsi black.

Head densely covered with white pubescence. Mandibles short, labrum narrow, slightly incised at anterior margin; clypeus rough, anterior margin “V”-shaped incised; frons slightly depressed, covered with dense wrinkles and coarse punctures; vertex convex, with a median longitudinal groove. Antennae robust, extending to base of prothorax, pubescent, 1 st antennomere strongly elevated, 2 nd small and round, 3 rd oval, smaller than the second, 4 th sub-triangular, 5 th – 10 th serrate, last segment long and conical.

Prothorax transverse, 2.30 times as wide as long, moderately convex; anterior margin slightly concave, lateral margins slightly arcuate, convergent anteriad, posterior margin sinuated; anterior angles rectangular, posterior ones broadly rounded, all margins especially the lateral ones bordered; surface lustrous, basal median area sparsely and finely punctured. Scutellum triangular, with sparse punctures, clothed with short and sparse pubescence, apical half moderately elevated over elytral surface.

Elytra cylindrical, 1.52 times as long as wide at humeral part, humeri as broad as prothorax; surface densely covered with coarse punctures, interstices smaller than or as wide as the diameter of a puncture.

Underside and legs thickly clothed with long silvery pubescence; apex of pygidium arcuate. Legs robust, tarsi broad, length ratio of protarsomeres 1.5:1.4:0.5:1.7.

Aedeagus long, bent ventrally, basal half paler and less sclerotized than apical half; underside of apical part with sparse short pubescence.

Female. Body more robust; anterior margin of clypeus more shallowly incised; prothorax narrower than elytra; apex of pygidium truncate; spermatheca hook-shaped, basal half inflated, most inflated at base, base of spermathecal duct thicker, uncoiled, then becoming thinner, and loosely coiled about 10 to 15 times; ventral rectal sclerites large, dorsal central sclerite sub-trapezoidal; inner part of lateral sclerites feebly sclerotized.

Distribution: China (Gansu, Qinghai, Shaanxi, Sichuan, Yunnan).

Remarks. We borrowed two specimens from ZMHB labelled as types, one of them from Gansu (originally “Kan-ssu”) and another from Sichuan (originally “Sze-tchǔan”); as the original description gave the type locality only in Gansu, the latter one may not be a type.
