Types. HOLOTYPE: male, CHINA: Yunnan: Kunming, Xishan, Huatingsi , 1980.V.23, leg. unknown ( IZ-CAS) ; PARATYPES: Yunnan: 1 male, Yuxi, Yimen, Chengguan, 1978. VI .12, leg. Lihua Zhang ( IZ-CAS) .

Measurement. Body length males: 6.8–6.9 mm.

Description. Body elongate. Head black, labrum, under side of mouth parts fulvous; antennae dark with four basal antennomeres fulvous. Pronotum fulvous with an inverse-triangular shaped black spot near basal middle. Scutellum black. Elytra fulvous with black lateral margins, and three black markings: one round humeral spot, one narrow stripe connected with lateral margins from basal 1/5 to apical 1/5 and humerus, another stripe as long as the lateral stripe along elytral suture, this stripe widened in the middle, apical part of the stripe extending as a black line along suture and connecting with the lateral margins. Ventral side of body black, except for fulvous prothorax. Legs fulvous, femora dorsally and tibiae more or less black, tarsi black.

Head densely clothed with short white pubescence. Mandibles short, labrum narrow, slightly incised at anterior margin; clypeus with anterior margin “V”-shaped incised; frons covered with coarse punctures, concave in the median; vertex convex, coarsely punctured, and with a shallow median longitudinal groove. Antennae robust, extending to base of prothorax, pubescent, 1 st antennomere strongly elevated dorsally, 2 nd small and round, 3 rd oval, shorter than the second, 4 th triangular, as long as twice of the third one, 5 th – 10 th serrate, slightly longer than the 4 th, last segment long and conical.

Prothorax transverse, 1.95 times as wide as long, moderately convex; anterior margin slightly concave, lateral margins slightly arcuate, convergent anteriad, posterior margin sinuated; anterior angles rectangular, posterior ones broadly rounded, all margins bordered including the lateral ones; surface lustrous, basal lobed median area with few punctures. Scutellum triangular, covered with dense punctures, sparsely clothed with short pubescence, apical part elevated over elytral surface.

Elytra cylindrical, 1.58 times as long as wide at humeral part, humeral width as broad as prothorax; surface densely covered with coarse punctures, interstices about 0.3 times as wide as the diameter of a puncture; clothed with pale short pubescence, the pubescence on lateral sides and apices denser than disc; epipleura covered with pubescence similar to that on elytra.

Underside of body and legs densely clothed with long silvery pubescence; apex of pygidium arcuate. Legs robust, tarsi broad, length ratio of protarsomeres 1.3:1.1:0.3:1.7.

Aedeagus long, bent ventrally, basal three-quarter paler and less sclerotized than apical quarter; underside of apical part with sparse short pubescence.

Distribution: China (Yunnan).

Etymology. The specific epithet is a combination of Latin terms pub- and pennis.

Diagnosis. This new species shares a similar dorsal color pattern with E. peplopteroides Weise , but the new species can be well defined by the elytra clothed with short pale pubescence and by the aedeagus with the basal 3/4 paler and less sclerotized than the apical quarter.
